Using background images for tracing in FreeCAD
I just implemented this little feature:
Rectangle objects now have a "Texture image" property, where you can
choose an image file. That image then gets mapped on the rectangle. You
must of course take care of making the rectangle the same proportion as
the image. But this way, specially combined with the transparency
property, you get a great way of tracing CAD objects over a scanned
paper drawing.
